- The DB and DBW pressure relief valves are pilot-operated and primarily used for system pressure limitation (DB) or pressure limitation and unloading via solenoid actuation (DBW).

- The system pressure acts on the main spool and simultaneously through the control line with a nozzle on the spring-loaded side of the main spool and the pilot control valve. In that case, the pilot control valve opens, allowing hydraulic fluid to flow from the pilot control valve’s spring chamber to the tank, thus releasing the connection from P to T. Hydraulic fluid flows from the P channel to the T channel, maintaining the set operating pressure.
- The DBW type valve functions similarly to the DB type, with the difference being that the main spool is unloaded through the control-mounted directional valve.
