Introduction to DB Pressure Relief Valve Function
A pilot-operated mechanism is applied in the operation of the DB pressure relief valve. The valve opens when system pressure exceeds a given value and allows hydraulic fluid to flow towards the tank, thus limiting the built-up pressure within that system. The remote control of this valve allows for unloading or switching of pressures. Energy efficient usage is ensured by maintaining optimum system pressure with this valve, as well as prolonging the life time of hydraulic components.The additional safety in hydraulic systems is provided by means of pilot-operated relief mechanism, which prevents over-pressurization.
Pressure Limitation (DB):
The system pressure acts on the main spool.
Pressure is simultaneously applied to the spring-loaded side of the main spool and to the pilot control valvevia control lines, which are equipped with nozzles.

Hydraulic Back Pressures: Internal and/or external pilot oil return may cause hydraulic back pressures at port Y to add 1:1 to the response pressure of the valve setting at pilot control in port T.
Discharge Lines： In other words, safety valves’ discharge lines (ports T and Y) must be terminated safely. Fluids should not accumulate in the discharge system (refer to data sheet AD2000 A2).
By using this codeless feature, internal pilot oil returns. It only has permissible maximum flow rates without counter pressure through an exhaust line (port T). On increasing flow rate, there’s rising system pressure with internal pilot oil return using resistance inside a line that leads out. For an admissible flow rate that depends on an amount of backpressure at the discharge line over 10 % from set response pressure, it is necessary to reduce said flow rate so that such increase does not exceed 10 percent and also depends on counterpressure is present in the discharge line.
